From pro domo to Executive Heres How Ive Advanced My Career at the Same Company in 10 Years Contrary to popular belief, job-hopping is elend a necessity for career fulfillment or advancement. As an employee of Bank of America Corporation for 10 years, Erin Blanchards career is proof that you can thrive professionally promotions and all within the same company.Her career took off when she first started with Bank of America as an intern, moving into her final year of college. Shes since held six full-time positions at the company, and is now a region executive of consumer banking and investments field advisors at Bank of America.The stable and supportive work environment at Bank of America has allowed her personal life to be equally as fulfilling as her professional life. In those same 10 years, shes also gotten married, earned her Masters degree, bought a home and had two children. Coincidentally, big milestones in my personal life have seemed to align with promotions at work. Im fo rtunate to be able to work for a great company, and managers, that have always supported both aspects of my life.She recently spoke to Fairygodboss about her successful career in finance, her favorite aspects of the company and whats ultimately led her to stay at your company. Check out her responses below.How long have you been with your company? What about it made you first want to join?I welches intrigued by the size and scope of the company when I began my career at Bank of America as an intern between my junior and senior years of college. After graduating, I landed a full-time position and have been with them ever since. Its been a solid 10 years of learning and growing with the company, and Im hopeful for many more.Tell me about the roles that youve held at your company, as well as your current one. What about this role most excites you?Ive held six full-time positions with the bank since I first joined. I started as a Business Support Lead, moved into the role of Financial S olutions Advisor, then Market Sales Manager, Sales wertmiger zuwachs Manager, Edge Performance Manager and finally, Region Executive which Im still in today.In my current role, I have the privilege of leading a team of market leaders who manage 120 advisors that meet with clients everyday and help them achieve their financial goals. I find the most joy in my role when my teammates achieve career success, in whatever way that looks and feels like to them.Whats something youre especially good at work?Im especially good at connecting with others, understanding what makes each of us successful and helping people utilize their unique talents to be successful.Whats the first (and/or last) thing you do at work every day?At the start and end of everyday, I connect with my team via phone or email.A lot of people believe that developing your career means changing companies, and not infrequently. What has enabled you to develop/advance your career without job hopping?Ive advanced my career at the company by building relationships, demonstrating my openness to change and trusting in the leadership at Bank of America to help me achieve my goals.Ultimately, what has led you to stay at your company?Since starting with the company, Ive moved to Boston, gotten married, bought a house, earned my Masters degree and have had two children. Coincidentally, big milestones in my personal life have seemed to align with promotions at work. Im fortunate to be able to work for a great company, and managers, that have always supported both aspects of my life.Whats something you think most people (perhaps even current employees) dont know about your company that you think they should?Despite being a large organization, it feels very intimate and we work across different lines of business very well.What was the best quality of the best boss youve ever had?The most effective bosses Ive ever worked with provided honest, constructive feedback and noticed talents within me that others may have overlooked.Whats the most memorable piece of career advice youve received?zulauf to a job not from one.
